BIRTH.WORK AT THE
END OF LIFE.
ATNSC provides end of life services for individuals and families during the last three to six months of life. We use the term "doula" as the role is not a clinical responsibility but one that focuses on the mental, emotional and spiritual concerns of the client. While medical staff and hospice practitioners focus on clinical and palliative care, the doula provides support for attending to the impact that these processes have on our human experience.

- contact with the client and family three to six months prior to death
- presence during the last 48 to 72 hours of life
- referrals for needed services for the family and client
- assistance in preparation of the space where the client will receive support
- culturally appropriate practices to support the family and client
- spiritual care
